Bio

Jamanta Crew is a Brazilian house music collective headed by producers Prztz (Eduardo Marote, São Paulo), Rafael Droors (Rio de Janeiro) and Rod Sponja (Rio de Janeiro). Their common sickness of producing music on computers generated this will of dropping tracks. Jackin house has been their style so far although they experiment with any funky shit.

Aroma Jacks. Greenhouse, Goodfamily, Public Access, Tango, Knockin Boots released Jamanta Crew EPs. Derrick Carter's Classic, So Sound and Mamma's Home Cookin delivered solo Prztz ones.

Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Yousef, Fred Everything all released Jamanta Crew tracks on mix CDs.

Jamanta Crew has been intensely played by house music DJs worldwide since 2004, when they came together.

Prztz and Droors perform the Jamanta Crew Live PA. A live show using computers, keyboards and FX with a selection of the newest and most unreleased productions of the team. The PA has already travelled through US and Europe to London, Belgium, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Miami, Austin and Kansas City. In 2006 they played the biggest dance festival in Brasil, Skol Beats, including the brazilian jazz-funk legend Ed Motta. Now they are ready to a new US tour in march-april 2007.

"Small Talk" by Prztz is out on "10" - new Classic series

"Small Talk" is finally out on wax on "10" a new series by Classic with their favorite producers.

Here go two reviews:

Primal Records (UK):

V/A (BRETT JOHNSON FEAT DJ HEATHER, JUSTIN HARRIS, PRZTZ, NAIL) - EVERYTHING'S ELECTRIC - CLASSIC / CLASS ACT
Derrick Carter & Luke Solomon's latest venture, the "10" series where each release will host a combination of their favorite producers. The first single features tracks from Brett Johnson, PRZTZ, Justin Harris and Nail. Brett is first up with the acid killer "Everything's Electric" which features Heather on vocals and Brett dropping a sleazy production that oozes funk, sweat and raw jacking power. Next up is Justin Harris who drops the Freak-esque "Words N Lies". On the flip you'll find "Small Talk" courtesy of PRZTZ which harks back to Classic's heyday of bumping funk, very retro Derrick. Finally we have Nails first production in some time, "Low Cloud" a killer deep house jam reminiscent of early Larry Heard

Picadilly Records (UK):

Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon's latest venture features the first in a series of EPs entitled "10" hosting a combination of their favourite producers. First up is the highly sort after new single from Brett Johnson featuring world famous Chicago DJ, DJ Heather. Stripped down to the minimum of a killer acid line and a spooky vocal, this has been tearing up soundsystems all over Europe and The States. On the same side, Justin Harris, one half of Freaks, brings a more bumping affair on "Words And Lies (Don't Believe It)" that should fair well across the pond. On the flip, Brazil super house talent Prztz serves up "Small Talk". This funky jam is sure to cross over from the Chicago DJ's to European. And last of all the return of Nail. Having released a series of 12's on Classic 10 years ago, Nail has spent the missing time recording with pop act Bent. Nail returns to Classic with a killer jam reminiscent of early Larry Heard. All 4 cuts have been gaining support from Luciano, Doc Martin, Derrick Carter, Ralph Lawson, Dixon, King Britt and Andrew Weatherall.

Jamanta Crew and Ed Motta play together at Skol Beats

Last week, in May 13th @ Skol Beats, brazilian biggest festival held yearly in Sao Paulo, we had the chance of doing this Live PA featuring the great brazilian soul/jazz artist Ed Motta. He was singing and playing Rhodes piano.

We did together 3 tracks: Ed Motta's own "É muita gig, véi", a sambajazz joint which I added many old sambajazz drums; "Crazy", another track of his, with the three of us dropping beats, fx and bass on my Minimoog over his vocals and Rhodes; and "Expansions", the old funk classic by Lonnie Liston Smith.

It was the first time we played with three synchronized computers. And it worked smoothly.

And we had a horn section! Yep! Funk Como Le Gusta Horns with Reginaldo 16 (trumpet), Cotarelli (flugelhorn), Kito Siqueira (sax), Hugo Hori (sax and flute) and Tiquinho (trombone).

Unfortunately the entire Live PA was just one hour long and that one hour ran very fast. I think everybody we do that again longer very soon.

It was dope creating shit smoother and deeper than what we are used to.

There is a small video here.

Finest House from Brazil

"Brilliant, amazing! … Prztz is back!"

Prztz is the house music project of Eduardo Marote, an amazing brazilian producer who worked with some of the drum and bass' big boys and now turns his hand onto the house scene.

His debut EP "Everybody", released on Classic in November 2004, made a huge impression in the underground house music scene and found instant support from DJs like Mark Farina, Diz, Jason Hodges, Derrick Carter, Sneak, Heather and many others all around the world.

Eduardo's influences range from Disco-Funk, Kraftwerk, Talking Head's film "Stop making sense" , James Brown to early Hip Hop and Electro-Acid House.

From the funky-quirky "South side", the Electro-P-Funk of "Copacabronx" to the hypnotic tones and soulful vocal snippets of Southic, this EP is guaranteed to set your party on fire.

So Sound brings you Prztzs' 2nd house release, a brilliant piece indeed…
